2027 Jeep Wrangler Preview — Trims and Colors

Jeep is rolling out the 2027 Wrangler in stages. Order banks for gas models are open, two limited editions have been revealed, and third-party pricing data has now posted. What Jeep has not done yet is publish a full 2027 model site. As of August 2026, the Wrangler pages on jeep.com still describe the 2026 model.

So here is an honest preview. Below is what has been confirmed, what is still preliminary, and what nobody knows yet. If you are shopping today, the current 2026 Wrangler trim lineup is the one you can drive off the lot.

The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Trim Lineup

The 2027 Wrangler carries eight trim levels across fourteen build configurations. Kelley Blue Book and Cars.com both list the same fourteen builds, which is a good sign the underlying data is solid.

Trims, Body Styles and Starting Prices

A few things worth pulling out of that table. The Sahara is the only comfort-focused trim, and it comes only as a four-door. Both V8 models are four-door only as well. Jeep also builds a right-hand-drive version of the four-door Sport for rural mail carriers and similar users, which runs the turbo four-cylinder and an automatic.

The Moab 392 carries an exact $10,000 premium over the Willys 392. Third-party listings that show the two at the same price are quoting the shared base figure before the required Moab 392 order package, which the preliminary order guide prices at $10,000.

Powertrains: What Changed for 2027

Gone: The 4xe Plug-In Hybrid

The clearest 2027 news is that the Wrangler 4xe is discontinued. Stellantis phased out its North American plug-in hybrid programs beginning with the 2026 model year. The Grand Cherokee 4xe and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid went with it. A planned update pairing the 4xe system with a turbocharged four-cylinder for 2027 was cancelled outright. Every 2027 Wrangler is gas-powered.

Back: The 6.4L HEMI V8

The V8 went the other direction. After the Rubicon 392 Final Edition looked like the end of the line, the engine returned for 2026 and is listed again for 2027. This time it appears in two models: the Willys 392 and the Moab 392. Both are rated at 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Rubicon 392 name does not appear in the 2027 lineup.

Engines, Transmissions and 4×4 Systems

Five of the eight trims come standard with the 3.6L Pentastar V6. On its own Wrangler FAQ, Jeep rates that engine at 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0L Turbo I4 is standard on the Sahara and makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft.

Transmission follows the engine. V6 trims come with a six-speed manual. The turbo four and the V8 both use an eight-speed automatic, with no manual offered.

Jeep lists four separate 4×4 systems across the lineup. Command-Trac is a part-time system with a 2.72:1 low range. Rock-Trac uses a 4:1 low range and comes in either part-time or full-time form depending on the model. Selec-Trac is a full-time system with a 2.72:1 low range.

Fuel Economy

EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2027 Wrangler reaches up to 17 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway, according to Cars.com. Your actual numbers depend heavily on engine, body style and how you drive.

The Two V8 Models

Both 392 models appear in the preliminary 2027 order guide, as reported by MoparInsiders. They share most of their hardware: the 6.4L V8, an eight-speed automatic, a Selec-Trac full-time 4×4 system, a 4.56 rear axle ratio, an electronic rear locker, heavy-duty Dana axles, 35-inch tires on 17-inch wheels, steel front and rear bumpers, rock rails, skid plates, tow hooks and a receiver hitch. The Willys 392 is the accessible one. The Moab 392 is built for harder trails. Here is where they separate.

2027 Jeep Wrangler Colors

The preliminary 2027 order guide for the 392 models lists seven exterior colors. That is a noticeably tighter palette than recent years. Several enthusiast favorites did not make the cut, including Earl, Anvil, Tuscadero and Mojito.

Three colors carry no additional charge. The other four carry a premium. Paint availability can shift before production starts, so treat this as a launch palette rather than a final one.

Twelve 4 Twelve: The 2027 Limited Editions

Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve program drops one limited-edition Wrangler per month for twelve months, in limited quantities. Two of those drops are 2027 models.

Wrangler Sarge

The eighth drop arrived June 12, 2026. It takes its cues from the original 1941 Willys MB and is offered on both two-door and four-door Wranglers in Rubicon and Willys trims. The signature detail is a color pairing. Order it in ’41 paint and you get a Bright White roof and grille surround. Order any other color and you get a ’41 roof and grille surround instead. Either way, ’41 appears in the painted wheels. Inside, it uses a two-tone Drab Green and Cattle Tan treatment.

Wrangler Laredo

The ninth drop followed on July 12, 2026 and revives a nameplate that defined the brand through the 1980s. Jeep built it on the Wrangler Willys foundation and made the Xtreme 35 Package standard, which brings 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires on bronze beadlock-capable wheels. It also brings back the tan soft-top. A Sky One-touch power top is available on four-door models, and a black hardtop is available on both. The interior is Bison Brown Nappa leather with front heat and power adjust, accented with Mayan Gold stitching against Global Black trim. Laredo carries a starting MSRP above a comparably equipped Willys with the Xtreme 35 Tire Package.

Both editions come in two-door and four-door configurations, and both are built in limited numbers.

Towing

Towing depends on body style and equipment rather than trim name. Two-door models are rated at 2,000 pounds. Four-door models are rated at 3,500 pounds in standard form. Jeep’s own published figure for a properly equipped four-door reaches 5,000 pounds, which requires specific axle and transmission equipment. Your vehicle’s door-jamb label is the authority for any individual Wrangler.
